I used to + (verb) = I had the habit of doing this in the past BUT I am not doing it now
Surekha (at a temple): Hey Lalitha, I don’t see you here these days. Are you not coming regularly?
Lalitha: I used to come to the temple every day. But recently we have shifted to a house far from here. So, I come only once a month.
Some more examples:
- “I used to go to the gym regularly. I rarely find time these days”
- “I used to smoke a lot. I quit smoking after my child was born”
- “I used to have lots of junk food during college days, and now I am suffering”
- I used to watch Cartoon Network when I was a child, now I encourage my children to watch it. It helps you improve your English”
