I feel like doing this – I don’t feel like doing that

I feel like + (verb+ing)  = To express what you would enjoy doing.

Example:
Mahesh: The weather is now pleasant. isn’t it Kiran?
Kiran: Yes, Mahesh. Very nice weather. I feel like going for a long bike ride.

Some more examples:

  • “I have a splitting headache. I feel like having a cup of coffee.”
  • “I have been working continuously for three hours. I feel like taking a break.”
  • “The dessert smells very good. I feel like eating it first”

I don’t feel like + (verb+ing)  = To express what you would NOT enjoy doing.

Example:

Mother: Raju, it’s already 7. Wake up and get ready to go to college.
Raju: No Amma. I don’t feel like going to college today. Please let me sleep till 9.

  • “I am on a vacation. I don’t feel like studying now.”
  • “It’s very hot outside. I don’t feel like going out”.
  • “Sunitha boasts a lot about herself. I don’t feel like spending time with her”.
  • “The restaurant is always overcrowded. I don’t feel like having food there”.
