Greed causes grief.
A man and his wife owned a very special goose. Every day the goose would lay a golden egg and this made the couple very rich.
One day the man’s wife who was very greedy said, “Why don’t we cut open the stomach of the goose and remove all the eggs at once? That will make us richer much faster.”
Then the man said, “You’re right, we’ll do that. We won’t have to wait for the goose to lay an egg every day.”
So, the couple killed the goose and cut it open. They were shocked to find that it was just like any other goose. There were no golden eggs inside it. They lost both the goose and the golden eggs.
